What Humanity Coin does:

Humanity Coins exist in two places. First, there is a physical coin that you can hand to anyone in the real world to say thank you or youre welcome, or simply "I am glad we connected if only for a moment here waiting in line together." Second, there is a sibling virtual coin where everyone who has scanned the physical coin can leave messages.

Humanity Coin pages have a map showing the center of each postal code where the coin has been scanned. The message board shows everyone who has scanned a coin. The message board can contain messages left by people who have shared the same coin.


When you scan a physical Humanity Coin:
1) The app uses GPS to store the center of the zip code where you scanned the coin. The app does NOT store the precise location. Humanity Coin ONLY uses GPS data when you scan a coin.

2) Each virtual Humanity Coin (app Coin Page) has a message board. Your first name, last initial, user name, profile photo, the time and the city appears showing that you received the coin.

3) You gain access to leave messages on that coin’s message board. Message boards are public but only people who have scanned a coin can leave a message.

4) The current holder of the coin appears at the top right of the screen.

5) You are encourage to give the coin to someone else—a friend, an acquaintance, a stranger who made your day. Even when you give the coin away you retain all privileges to participate in that coin’s message board.

If you are the first person to scan a Humanity Coin, you are the coins originator:

1) You get to name the coin which will permanently appear on the coin’s page

2) You get to write a permanent greeting that will appear at the top of the coin’s page. For example a favorite quote, or “In memory of….”

3) Your first name, last initial, user name and profile photo will appear at the top as the originator.

Why we created Humanity Coin:

Everything we do, as small as a smile, ripples far beyond our line of sight.

A smile begets a smile. A compliment begets a compliment. That stranger who made your day remembers another stranger who made theirs. They lifted your mood and later you lifted the mood of another. From a smile in Detroit three months ago to a small kindness in Paris next week, all of those people, with you in the middle, are unknowingly bound together .

These ripples of kindness connecting us all have been happening since the beginning of time. Humanity Coins, with the Human Coin app, makes them visible.
